Marco Rubio is an American politician of Cuban descent, the current United States Secretary of State, and a prominent figure in the Republican Party.

 Marco Antonio Rubio was born on May 28, 1971, in Miami, Florida, to Cuban immigrants who fled the Castro Revolution in 1956. His father worked as a banquet waiter, while his mother held various jobs in hotels and factories while caring for the family. Rubio identifies as Catholic, and his family roots extend to Spain and Italy.

Education and Political Career

 Rubio studied Political Science at the University of Florida and earned a law degree from the University of Miami. He began his political career as a municipal commissioner in West Miami and later became Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives. In 2010, he was elected as a United States Senator from Florida, a position he held until 2025. During his time in the Senate, he stood out in foreign policy, particularly on issues involving Latin America, China, and Israel, and served on key committees such as the Intelligence and Foreign Relations Committees.

Current Role and Relevance

 Since January 21, 2025, Marco Rubio has served as the United States Secretary of State, becoming the first person of Hispanic heritage to hold the position and placing him fourth in the presidential line of succession. He has also simultaneously served in roles including National Security Advisor, Acting Administrator of USAID, and Archivist of the United States. His approach combines the defense of democracy with U.S. national security, and he has been an active critic of authoritarian regimes in Latin America, including the government of Nicolás Maduro in Venezuela.
