Interview with Simétrica

 By Susan Villa

After a summer touring stages all across Spain, sisters Ángela and Johanna Murcia are back stronger than ever with their project Simétrica. Their new single, “De Fiesta”, is a hyperpop burst of energy that turns a breakup into a reason to celebrate with friends, blending modern beats with bold attitude and plenty of confidence. On September 19, they will premiere it live at Festival Brava Madrid, performing in front of more than 25,000 people. We spoke with them about this new anthem, their journey, and everything that’s coming before the end of 2025.

 1. “De Fiesta” is a hyperpop anthem full of boldness and energy. How was this song born, and what personal moment were you in when you wrote it?

When we wrote De Fiesta, we were in a very awake emotional moment, with the clarity that comes from having learned something important: the best thing you can do when someone doesn’t value you is to give them zero importance and move on with your life. From there came the impulse to turn it into an anthem of freedom, self-love, and focusing on what truly matters.

 2. The lyrics turn heartbreak into a celebration with friends. Was it a conscious decision to flip pain into power and party?

Obviously! Hahaha. We wanted to turn into a song that energy you feel when you know your worth. That moment when you say, “I’m not going to waste my strength on what isn’t worth it—I’m going to take on the world and surround myself with what truly adds to my life.”

 3. The track was produced at Odisey Ibiza with Pepe Bernabé and Karvel. What did they bring to Simétrica’s final sound on this single?

We were very clear about what we wanted to express, and shaping it with them was very easy. They turned our vision into a sound you can truly feel: powerful, direct, and with a bold edge that is very Simétrica.

 4. Your performance at Festival Brava Madrid will be the live debut of this song, in front of more than 25,000 people. How do you prepare for a stage of that magnitude?

With huge excitement and enthusiasm, but also with a lot of respect and gratitude. It’s a massive stage and an incredible opportunity that we’re fully embracing from the very beginning. We’re preparing with a lot of work, rehearsals, and above all with the emotion of knowing we’re about to experience something truly special.

 5. Since childhood you’ve taken part in shows like “Veo Veo” or “Tú Sí Que Vales”, and now you’re considered “the queens of dance.” What remains of those little girls in the artists you are today?

Everything! At our core, we’re still those two natural, spontaneous, fun girls who stepped onto a stage without fear. The difference is that now we carry lessons, experiences, and scars that have shaped who we are today.

 6. Looking ahead: beyond this single and the festival, what projects do you have planned for the end of 2025 and the coming year?

We’re closing the year with our first EP, which brings together all the work and evolution of 2025. It’s a project that feels very special to us because it condenses our essence and our artistic search. We’re also working on another major project that we can’t reveal yet, but if it happens, it would be a huge step forward in our career. What we can say is that we’re fully dedicated to creating and refining every detail, so we can continue offering music that people can dance to, feel moved by, and feel part of what we’re telling.
