“My Way”: The Intimate and Luminous Universe of Yilian Peña

By Osiris Valdés López

In life, there are human beings who not only arrive but stay. Presences that make no noise, yet transform; souls that embrace without reservation and support us even on the most fragile days. Different people. Extraordinary people. Those friends who are always there—regardless of the hour or circumstance—ready to offer the most sincere hug and words that rebuild the spirit.

Today, I have the honor—and deep emotion—of speaking about one of them, my dear friend, my Yiyi, Yilian Peña. My love and admiration for her cannot be contained in words: Yilian not only illuminates my life with her friendship, but also transforms every space she touches through her art and sensitivity.

Yilian is much more than a visual artist. She is sensitivity transformed into color, intuition transformed into brushstroke, authenticity without compromise. Born in Las Tunas, Cuba, on December 18, 1992, she currently resides in Tenerife, Spain, since 2014. Her work is characterized by a deep connection with the sensitivity of the present moment, through which she seeks to convey her feelings and emotions in an authentic and personal way.

She finds inspiration in the beauty of everyday life and in the transformative power of self-support and faith in oneself. She firmly believes in the power of believing in oneself, even when no one else does. Her message is clear and powerful: the desire to live resides within each of us, and we all have the power to create our own reality.

On this occasion, dear and gentle readers, I am pleased to present her art exhibition “My Way”, a showcase that not only reveals her talent but also her philosophy of life: creating from inner truth, from raw emotion, from the conviction that every human being has a unique and irreplaceable voice.

A friend of mine since 2019, Yilian has been a constant inspiration. But beyond the personal affection that unites us, I must affirm with absolute objectivity that she possesses one of the most genuine talents and one of the most creative minds I have had the privilege of knowing in my life.

Her exhibition “My Way” reflects this philosophy, inviting viewers to see life from a different perspective and to find beauty in the simplest details. Through her paintings, Yilian shows us that life is beautiful if we learn to appreciate it with fresh eyes and an open mind.

Her work does not seek to please passing trends. It seeks to connect. Her paintings dialogue with the viewer, inviting introspection, self-recognition, and the understanding that beauty resides in authenticity. “My Way” is not just an exhibition; it is a declaration of identity, a silent manifesto on the freedom to be.

Celebrating this exhibition is celebrating her art. But it is also celebrating friendship, loyalty, and the courage to live—and create—true to oneself. For there are artists who paint canvases… And there are souls who paint life. Yilian, undoubtedly, does both.

I invite you to visit the Art Gallery section, which Yilian directs in this very Fashionista Edition magazine, where you can find more details about her works. And if you are interested in acquiring any of her paintings, you can do so directly through the gallery.
